Athens
Capital of Greece: As the cultural, historical and economic center of the country, Athens is also the most important metropolis in Greece. The city has been continuously inhabited since the Neolithic Age, making it one of the oldest settlements and cities in Europe. In 1985, Athens became the first European Capital of Culture.
Acropolis
Acropolis, a name with a lot of history and well-known worldwide! Over the centuries, the Acropolis has been many things: throne to kings, citadel and mythical seat of the gods, religious center and tourist attraction. Words alone cannot describe this work of Greek antiquity, so a visit to this “sacred Rock” is a “must”!
Panathenaic Stadium aka Kalimarmaro Stadium
The Panathenaic Stadium is an unforgettable experience for visitors of all ages. Visit the permanent exhibition “Memories of the Olympic Games: Posters and Torches from 1896 to Today” within its Atrium.
Watch the highlights of the Athens’ 2004 Olympic Games on two large screens and “interact” with the programs on a multimedia touchscreen just before reaching the atrium.
Plaka
One of the oldest districts of Athens located at the footage of the Acropolis and between Monastirakisquare and today’s city center.
If you want to stroll through narrow cobblestone streets with tiny stores, sidewalk cafes and family-run tavernas that stay open late into the night, Plaka is the place to be! An extraordinary picturesque place to experience Greek flair all in one!
Syntagma Square – Parliament and “Tomb of the Unknown Soldier”
Syntagma Square (in Greek: PlatiaSyndagmatos -Constitution Square) is the largest square in the modern part of the city of Athens. The Greek Parliament, also known as the Parliament of the Hellenes, is located within the old Royal Palace, above the central Syntagma Square. At its front: the ‘Tomb of the Unknown Soldier’: a symbolic monument to all Greek soldiers who died in wars and conflicts. The so-called Evzones standingat attention and every hour there the famous changing of the guard, an impressive ‘show’ you should not miss!
